It is time for a major life and business update… I am moving!
I am not just talking down the street or even across town. I am talking from California to Connecticut by way of Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida. Wondering how that route makes any sense?! The short answer is that it doesn’t, but I will explain it all in this post!
The Reason for the Move…
If you have been here for a while or snooped around my About page, you might already know I am a military spouse. My husband Brian is a Lieutenant in the US Navy.
We have spent the last 2.5 years in California for Brian to get his Master of Computer Science as a part of his military commitment. He finished his degree and graduated at the end of March. We then packed our house in the Monterey area to ship all our belongings to Waterford, CT. We won’t see them again until the end of June, but I will explain that later. Once we moved out of Monterey, we headed down the coast for Brian to attend a five-week training in Oxnard, CA, for again his job of overseeing the construction of submarines for the Navy. He finished that course this next week. So again, it is time to move out of the Airbnb we have called home for the last month to make our way across the country.
The Indirect Route…
Our final destination, as I said before, is Connecticut. However, we have some time until we close on our house and can move in. So we will take the next two months for traveling, visiting friends and family, and big life events. Here is the rundown of our journey:
Phase 1: Road Trip
Leave Saturday May 6th from Oxnard, CA.
Day 1: Oxnard, CA ➡️ Page, AZ
Day 2: Exploring Page, AZ (Horseshoe Bend & Antelope Canyon)
Day 3: Page, AZ ➡️ Moab, UT (We will be glamping in Arches National Park)
Day 4: Moab, UT ➡️ Denver, CO (Might hit up some natrual hot springs OTW!)
Day 5: Denver, CO ➡️ Kansas City, KS
Day 6: Kansas City, KS ➡️ Indianapolis, IN (Going to see the Gateway Arch in St. Louis)
Day 7: Indianapolis, IN ➡️ Columbus, OH
Day 8 – 9: In Columbus, OH to celebrate my best friend’s wedding 👰🏻♀️, Congrats Alex!
Day 10: Columbus, OH ➡️ Fort Mill, SC (Outside of Charlotte, where my parents live)

Phase 2: Temporary Home Base
My parents have graciously opened their home to my family (Brian, myself, our son Beckett, and two dogs) for the six or so weeks we have until we can move into our Connecticut home. Brian will have to leave at the end of May to go up there and get to work, but there was no way we could all survive in a hotel room for six weeks, so South Carolina it is! Truthfully, I think my parents are excited to have Beckett around for a while.
Open for Business
You might be wondering what all this means for my business. Well, honestly, not much changes. Once I get there, I will be working on East Coast hours, but since my job is virtual, I can serve my clients anywhere there is good wifi!
From mid-May to the end of June, I will work primarily from my parent’s home while continuing to watch Beckett. My availability is limited during that time. I only have a few Brand Your Way start dates to book. I will also be traveling to Florida to see my in-laws and back up to Ohio for another one of my best friend’s weddings (Congrats, Meg!👰🏻♀️). But my goal has always been and will continue to be to serve my clients with as much care as if I was settled down and open communication when something comes up.
We will officially travel up to Connecticut the last week of June, and my goal is to have the house settled the week of the 4th of July! So by mid-month, I will truly be back up and running.
