First impressions are everything.
Solid branding helps you establish an amazing first impression. The kind of impression that will leave you memorable in your audiences mind. How do I know that? Well, it is because only 10% of small businesses invest in branding. So if you do, you are now in the minority who can win over your ideal clients with a strong visual brand which means your sales will increase.
But you know what can be just as memorable? A terrible, unprofessional first impression. I am talking the kind that it is hard to believe that a company is legit or actually making money. The kind of impressions that leaves your audience feeling like they don’t trust that they will be taken care of if they work with you. Those first impressions are by far the hardest to overcome and can be completely avoided IF you invest in great branding.
Dollars and Cents
Investing in the early stages of your business in branding will set you up for successful marketing. If you haven’t read my post on why you should brand your business first and market it second, READ THAT HERE.
You see my clients get results. I have had a client go on to hit 1 million in sales in less than two years. I have had clients become booked out for months at a time within one week of launching their new brand. I have also had several clients hit 6 figures in their first year of business. Plus, I have even had a client use her branding ONE TIME and it yielded $10,000 in sales in just 48 hours.
The results are not guaranteed. These women worked hard and their branding was just one part of the puzzle. But they will all admit that it helped! But even if you don’t have these incredible results there are two things you should keep in mind.
1.) The cost per use every time you use your branding is extremely low. I am talking mere cents. If you do the math of how many times you will use your logo in one year and how much you actually spend on it, the cost per use is ridiculously cheap.
2.) The amount of money you could be losing by not having a strong first impression when your audience comes in contact with your branding.

0:00 But let’s get a little bit of some real talk. So if you’re thinking like, I don’t have any logos like this sound like a lot toge set up and maybe could be expensive to hire a brand designer. 0:10 Be honest with you, it could be expensive to hire a brand designer. But what I want to make very, very clear is that what are you truly investing in? 0:19 When you work with a brand designer or you work with somebody who knows what they’re doing, when it comes to building out logos for you, you are hiring someone to build you a tool, a logo, and a full I brand, brand identity package. 0:32 So knowing exactly what your colors are, knowing exactly what your fonts are, is the backbone of an effective brand recognition strategy. 0:39 You are hiring someone to build you a guide. That will be your starting point for making your marketing that will stand out in the crowd. 0:45 So you pretty much are no longer having to take the guesswork out of like, well, what colors work with what, what fonts work with? 0:50 What am I emoting the personality that I wanna emote? Someone’s taking that job off of your plate, okay? But the benefit is if you use that guide, you can create marketing graphics, websites and more that will generate leads and ultimately result in sales. 1:04 Okay? So this is the foundation for getting sales. So your branding investment can generate $10,000 and 48 hours. Now that is like, seems like a worth any penny to every penny to me. 1:17 But what if it doesn’t? Okay, what if I’m not gonna sit here and promise you that if you buy logos from me or somebody else, you’re gonna make $10,000 in sales. 1:26 I immediately, those results probably are not typical. But let’s talk about how much you can use that tool again and again and again. 1:34 Every time you make marketing in the future, you will have the opportunity to use your logos and use the details of your brand identity, the colors and the fonts again and again and again. 1:43 The benefit of doing this is that if you do it, you’ll build an undeniable brand recognition that will get you noticed. 1:49 Okay? Now let’s do some math to calculate cost per use. And if you don’t know what cost per use is, let’s say you buy a $5 pen and you write with that pen five times, that means every time you wrote with that pen you u it would cost a dollar. 2:06 Okay? If you buy lu batons, and I don’t know how much lu batons cost, maybe they are $2,000, they’re outta my price point at this point in time. 2:15 You buy some lu batons, you wear them twice. Cost per use is a thousand dollars. Okay? So let’s say you go and buy a branding package. 2:23 Let’s first think of all the places that you could yes, Jocelyn, you are my math person. <laugh> not me. I try to make this as easy as possible. 2:33 So let’s say you go and buy a branding package. Let’s think of all the places you can put it. Your social media content, your website, your landing pages, your email marketing and signatures, your client resources, your courses. 2:44 You create your print marketing. There are so many places you can put it. Okay? Now let’s, I want you guys to do a little mental brain brainstorm right now and throw it in the comments. 2:55 How many social media profiles do you post on for your business and how Many, many posts do you do a week? 3:00 Okay, let me know in the comments. Drop that number in the comments right now. Just do a brief if you’re like, I have no idea, it’s too many to count. 3:09 You can also give me, it’s too many to count, okay? Oh, I’m happy to do it. Yeah, good, I’m glad. 3:17 Sometimes I worry about like seeing the numbers if it makes sense or not, but I’m glad you guys like it. 3:23 Okay, now let’s look at a basic marketing plan. So let’s just say in one week’s time you do 10 social media posts. 3:30 You do one email blast and 35 emails with a branded email signature, okay? In one week. So everyone’s saying 30, maybe a ton, 12 to 20. 3:39 Okay? So way more than this estimate that I’m giving you right now. Okay? Three platforms. Try to submit five, five to 10 a day. 3:48 Probably about 20, okay? A lot. So more than this, okay? More than this estimate than I try to be super conservative with this. 3:55 So that would be like 46 branded touchpoints and post a week. Okay? So let’s do 46 touchpoints by 52 weeks in a year. 4:06 That’s 2,392 branded touchpoints per year. That’s a lot. And that is on the very conservative end, okay? Because based on what everyone’s saying in the comments, that’s way more, you guys are saying way more than what I’m doing in this average. 4:19 Okay? So branding, investment. So whatever you decide to pay for your branding, divide that by the 2392 and that is your cost per use for the year. 4:30 Okay? Which average of my branding package is, it’s probably going to be about 13 cents per use in one year. Okay? 4:40 13 cents a cup of coffee a day. Some Starbucks is what? Like $4. I don’t drink coffee, but like I think it’s like four bucks, maybe more than that. 4:49 So it’s super, super cheap to invest in something that if it’s done right, you can use again and again and again. 4:54 And that’s just for one year. What if you keep your branding for two, three years? You know? So that 13 cents per use is an investment to be made. 5:04 Your is an investment to make your life easier, gain you recognition and grow your sales. It’s truly a no-brainer. And remember my client, Shauna used her brand only one time and yielded 10 K in 48 hours, which is insane. 5:19 So let’s talk about the costs. If you don’t make that investment, you know, if you decide not to invest in a brand at all, not even just working with a professional designer, what happens? 5:30 Well, let’s talk about what happens if you go to Google. Let’s say you need to find, I don’t know, let’s say you just got married or you’re gonna get married and you need to find a florist for your wedding. 5:42 Okay? So you go on Google and you’re looking for that florist and you come across some local ones in your area, wherever you’re gonna get married and you click on the first website and they’re, it’s super outdated, it’s hard to use, they don’t have any updated pictures from recent readings. 5:55 You’re out of there so fast, like Less than a minute, you know, then you go on to the next person on the Google list and you’re like, oh, let’s look. 6:01 And it’s more professional, it’s more laid out, has a really good feel to it. You start reading more and then you may like ask for a quote for your wedding, okay? 6:09 You might have this exact same experience if you’re looking for the florist on websites or on social media, right? Like, have you ever Googled something in your life? 6:18 Let me know. And have you ever ditched a company so fast because it felt outdated and unprofessional? Gimme a hashtag all the time, gimme a hashtag. 6:28 Sometimes gimme a hashtag once or twice if you have ever done it. Contact creation’s hard for sure. Yeah. Let me know if you’ve ever done Google search and like you’ve seen something that just didn’t feel right or unprofessional all the time and you pieced out. 6:47 Yes. Love it. Sometimes. Yep, sometimes. Okay, so no clear branding means you are the company people are clicking away from and you are losing that in first impression and you’re losing the sale because ultimately people aren’t, it’s not our client’s jobs to figure out our business. 7:09 We have to present our business to them and we have to present it in a way that they think is professional and clean and easy to understand. 7:16 You know? So you gotta make sure that you are investing in your branding so that you’re not having that experience because you don’t know how many people are turning away because they don’t understand what it is you’re doing and what you’re selling or providing and you’re not doing it in an easy, clean 7:32 , professional way for them to get, okay? So you can’t afford not to invest in branding cuz you could be leaving money on the table and most likely it’s not even like, you don’t even have a chance to try to win them over because they’re not contacting you for a free consult. 7:45 They’re not contacting you for a quote. They are just piecing out and you have no idea who they are. You know,
