2023 is coming to an end, and it is a bittersweet feeling.

It was by far my best year in business, so knowing that I don’t want it to end, but I am also ready to see what a new year will bring. There were parts of this year that FLEW by and others where I felt like time was crawling. Those times were centered around the massive cross-country move I did this spring & summer. You can read this post if you want to learn all about it. Ultimately, it was a year of reaching for lofty goals and accomplishing new challenges for myself, all while learning a lot along the way.

Here is my year in review:

#1: Goals Hits & Misses:

At the start of the year, my goal number was 10,000. I wanted to hit 10K in income every month. I also wanted to reach 10K members on my email list and Facebook group by the end of 2023.

By my standards, I accomplished the first goal. When I say my standards, I mean that I averaged over 10K monthly income. 10K X 12 months is $120,000 in income, and I well exceeded that this year. But there were some calendar months that I didn’t hit the 10K. Ultimately, that makes sense because things ebb and flow with how much I can take on for my 1:1 clients and how much each of my monthly launches produces. Ultimately, I am thrilled with how the year turned out income-wise and ready to push the limits again next year.

As for the email list and Facebook group, I fell short. To date, my group has just over 7,800 members, and my email list is just a little behind at 7,300, but ultimately, these are huge jumps from where I started the year. Bosses Building Brands started the year with 4,300 members; my email list was 3,000. I am proud that I have more than doubled my email list and have found a process to close the gap in membership between the two. Plus, the growth of these platforms contributed to hitting my overall income goal.

#2: Client Work:

This year, I designed 25 complete brand kits (logos, colors & fonts), 18 of them being my five-day branding experience called Brand Your Way. In total, I designed and delivered over 115 logo concepts to clients so that they can start developing an undeniable brand recognition that will lead to more sales.

I also worked with over 15 clients on their sales funnels, freebie funnels, complete website development, masterclass registration tech, or course setup. I loved that I could help them streamline their processes and create effective marketing and lead generation tools that help build an online presence and provide income streams for their business and ways to grow their email list. #3: Free Value Provided:

This year’s primary goal was to provide my audience with as much value and impact as possible. I hosted over 25 masterclasses and trainings centered on Canva, branding, logos, goal setting, lead generation, marketing strategies, website development, business systems, & more. These served as ways that I could pour into my community members so they could leverage the knowledge I have in their businesses.

I rolled out more free downloads than ever before and created my resource vault so they are easily accessible in one place. I plan to expand on this in early 2024, so stay tuned.

#4: Challenges I Set For Myself:

At the start of 2023, I decided to diversify my marketing. Still, I wanted to do it in a way that could provide even more free value, like the item above, and get more eyes on my website, services, training, and community. I challenged myself to write a blog and market my business on Pinterest.

Years ago, I tried to write a blog, but it quickly failed. I didn’t have the right strategy and hadn’t found my voice as a business owner, service provider, or coach. I am proud that this is my 30th post this year. I have been able to share even more free knowledge tidbits for my audience to consume and allow my readers to get to know me better. As for why I chose to market on Pinterest, I also put that all in a blog post. You can read it here.

#5: Lessons Learned:

This year, the biggest lesson I learned is that I can manage significant life changes and still grow a business. Being in limbo for over three months with my husband’s navy command transition was difficult. Despite the challenges, I could still book and work with clients and host masterclasses that would also produce revenue, all while traveling the country and being the sole caretaker for my toddler son.

I also learned to embrace that the value I can provide my clients is way more than just pretty designs. I can dig deep into my clients’ businesses and help them iron out the kinks holding them back from reaching their lead generation & sales goals. This lesson has opened my eyes to new ways I can help my clients in the future.

So, 2023 is coming to an end:

But unlike the early years of my business, I look back on the last 12 months with a smile. I did the dang thing, and I helped others do it in their businesses as well. What could be better than that? As for 2024, I am still finalizing my goals and challenges for the year. Most of them are outlined, but that will be for a future post. 🙂
